The interview subject was born in the 1940s and lived in urban and rural areas of Shanghai from 1966 to 1976. His family background was classified as factory worker and his occupations during the Cultural Revolution were student and Educated Youth. The highest level of education he has achieved is college. The interview was conducted via Skype between Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Holmdel, New Jersey.
