About the Lecture Series

To support teaching and research on contemporary Chinese art in and outside University of Pittsburgh, University Library System worked with Dr. Gao to create a series of online lectures from 2017 to 2018. So far, there are four lectures were conducted. All of them were recorded in Hillman Library at University of Pittsburgh, and the length of each lecture lasts from 30 minutes to one hour.

About Dr. Minglu Gao

Dr. Minglu Gao is currently a Research Professor in the Department of History of Art and Architecture (HAA) at University of Pittsburgh (Pitt), and Professor and Head of Fine Arts Department at Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts as well as the director of the contemporary institute at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. Dr. Gao Minglu is one of prominent and leading scholars in Chinese contemporary art field who has formed and constituted this academic field. Gao has been an active critic, curator, and scholar of contemporary Chinese art since the mid1980s. His exhibitions on the subject are among the most important ever assembled in the U.S. and China. Dr. Gao also published a large number of academic works.
