Description
Administration of the polio virus vaccine during field test trials in Pittsburgh elementary schools. Starting in February 1954, the vaccine was administered to 15,000 volunteers (primarily children). The success of these trails led to the national trial in 1955 which inoculated another 1.8 million children.
