Description
Gothic; The Ezekiel, David, Cherubim Window Deremble-Manhes no. 103, Delaporte no. 122Panel 3: DavidThe middle of the three figures is that of King David – identified by the inscription REX DAVIT. He is bearded and crowned. He is seated; one hand is on his knee and the other holds a scepter.Panel 4: CherubimThe top figure is a Cherubim - instantly recognizable by its six wings, one of which is covered by open eyes. It is barefooted and haloed. Around its halo is a curious object (flames?) Cherubim are the second highest in the nine choirs of angels. In the Apocalypse, they are alluded to as celestial attendants (Rev. 4-6). They are thought to have an intimate knowledge of God. Delaporte believes this and the figure of the Cherubim in the nearby Daniel, Jeremy, Cherubim window Deremble-Manhes 122)/ show a Byzantine influence.; North Choir Clerestory: The Ezekiel, David, Cherubim Window
