Gothic; The Joseph WindowDelaporte no. 61, Deremble-Manhes no. 41General View The Old Testament story of Joseph (Genesis 37, 39-44 and 163-4) was a popular subject of stained glass in this period- there are examples in Canterbury, Bourges, and Rouen. It also figured in medieval illuminated manuscripts and sculpture and in sermons, poetry and drama. From Early Christian times, Joseph was seen as a prefiguration of Christ. There is a jamb statue of Joseph on the right portal of the north porch of Chartres.Donors: the money changers. 8.1 by 2.4 metersArmature: four large lozenges each consisting of four lozenges around a circle. On the four sides of each large lozenge are four further scenes in half-circles.Location- Fourth bay of nave- North Side Restored by Gaudin in 1924.; The Joseph Window
