Description
Gothic; The Miracles of the Virgin WindowDelaporte no. 9, Deremble-Manhes no. 38MODERN.Panel 18. Adoration of relicsAt the bottom of the panel kneel three men, facing toward panel 19, which shows relics being carried in a procession. Behind the kneeling figures stand three figures, one a bishop, one a cleric in a brown habit (Franciscan?) holding a crosier, and the other is dressed in white (Cistercian?). The standing figures are probably participants in the procession carrying the relics. An early description by Pintard shows that the original subject of this panel was quite different from that in this replacement, which was made in 1928 (Delaporte, p. 193). Panels 17-21 form a single composition showing the Display and Adoration of Relics.; The Miracles of the Virgin Window
