Description
Gothic; The St. Anthony and St. Paul the Hermit WindowDelaporte no. 13, Deremble-Manhes no. 30bPanel 3: Anthony and his sister enter a churchAnthony enter a church were mass is taking place. He was much impressed by Christ’s exhortation to a rich young man to sell his worldly possessions and give the proceeds to the poor. The scene takes place in an interior- there is a flat ceiling overhead though there is a shallow dome over the place where the mass is taking place. Anthony enters from the left, raising his hand. He is identified by the inscription ANTONIVS. Behind his is a woman wearing a blue veil over her head- Delaporte suggests this is Anthony’s sister. To the right a priest stands to the left of an altar draped with a white cloth; a deacon stands on the right holding an open book.; The Anthony Abbot and Paul the Hermit Window
