Description
Gothic; Andrew Window Delaporte no. 33, Deremble-Manhes no. 2Panel 18: Andrew raises a man from the deadDelaporte says that this shows an episode from the Life of St. Andrew by Pseudo-Abdias in which Andrew raises the young Egyptian servant of an inhabitant of Amassus named Demetrius. Since this episode occurred early in the Life, right after the episode shown in panels 16 and 18, Delaporte speculates that these panels were once in the lower part of the window. In the foreground is an ornate bed that is parallel with the plane of the picture. In it is the body of a young man wrapped in white cloth. He sits up and looks at Andrew (halo, barefooted) who stands at the foot of the bed and raises his hands in prayer. At the head of the bed stand two other people. Above are abstract clouds- a ray of light extends from them to the face of the young man.; The St. Andrew Window
