Tympanum; Gothic; West Façade, Central PortalTympanum - Christ in Majesty surrounded by the four evangelist symbols Christ (crossed halo, barefoot) sits on a throne in a mandorla. He holds a book in one hand and raises the other in a gesture of blessing. Above his head, a dove descends. He is surrounded by an angel, a winged lion, an winged ox, and an eagle. These creatures are mentioned in the Old Testament (Ezekiel 1:1-14) and as surrounding the Throne in Apocalypse 4:6-8. These creatures hold books and are generally identified as the symbols of the four evangelists (Angel, Matthew: Lion, Mark: Ox, Luke: Eagle, John).The inner archivolt contains figures of angels, the outer archivolts contain the twenty-four Elders of the Apocalypse.; West Facade, Central Portal
