Description
Jambs; Gothic; West Façade, Left Portal, Right Jambs- General ViewGeneral view of the right jambs of the left portal. At the top is the capital frieze, which contains scenes from the Life of the Virgin. Only two jamb figures remain, both with canopies over their heads. The haloed, bearded man on the left wears a cap similar to several shown on the tympanum of the Right Portal. The man's legs are crossed and he holds what Marriage describes as an open book. The headless jamb figure on the right stands on a serpent or dragon like creature. This jamb figure is a mid-twentieth century reproduction- the original is now on display in the crypt. On the doorpost are six vertically arranged small seated figures. A similar row of figures is on the pilaster to the right of the headless figure. To the extreme left are jamb figures on the left side of the central portal.; West Facade, Left Portal
