Description
Pontifical; Gothic; Canon of the Mass : Te igitur Initial T: Ecclesia (Church, New Law) and Synagoga (Judaism, Old Law). Synagoga, unusually placed on the left, stands with bowed head, holding a broken lance. she is blindfolded and her crown is being removed by Ecclesia, who is crowned and carries a chalice.Ecclesia and Synagoga are also shown at Chartres Cathedral in the Passion Typological Window (Delaporte no. 59, Deremble-Manhes no. 37) and there may have been statues of them on the jambs of north transept east portal.; Pontifical of Chartres, Orléans BM 144
