Description
Joseph M. talks about conditions in Homestead, particularly discussing the rough times, union involvement, and the impact on Black workers in the steel industry, particularly the challenges faced by workers in joining unions, the consequences of strikes and how Black men were used, and the changes in Homestead over time. He mentions that Homestead was a rough place, especially during the First World War and the Great Depression. The union had both positive and negative impacts, with some workers benefiting from the union's efforts to secure better pay and conditions.
