Description
Ed R. discusses he process of growing, harvesting, peanuts in detail as well as corn, and tobacco in North Carolina at his grandparent's [mother's parents'] farm. He did not live with his parents as they thought the country was better than the city. Ed R. talks about attending school between farming seasons. He held several jobs through his teens, always getting a better job. Eventually moving to Virginia. His mother moved to Braddock and he joined her. Despite initially feeling homesick and visiting Virginia once, he established a life in Braddock and met his wife there. Their family grew to include nine children, some of whom pursued higher education and successful careers.
