Description
John T. discusses his experiences and facing discrimination and prejudice as a Black man in work environments and public spaces. He recounts instances of segregation, unequal treatment in stores, public transport, and even gas stations. John T. also shares how Black ball teams faced challenges in being recognized for their talents despite their abilities. He touches on the emergence of political clubs among the Black community and the influence they held in local politics. There's mention of individuals like Earl Johnson and a man named Goodman who were involved in community organizing and exerted influence, particularly in job placements and political decisions that impacted the Black population in Braddock. He talks about how the situation gradually changed over time, where segregation was slowly dismantled, allowing Black individuals to access previously restricted places and opportunities.
