Description
John T.'s journey to find work at Westinghouse, facing various challenges and prejudices along the way. He meets Reverend, who suggests Rankin, Pennsylvania for work opportunities. John T. pays Reverend's way and heads to Rankin. Despite initial difficulties finding a job, John T. persists and eventually secures a storeroom keeper position at Westinghouse, becoming the first Black man in that role. He excels and moves to a better job, facing discrimination regarding his pay until he stands up for himself. Later, he advocates for Black women to work at Westinghouse, successfully getting several hired, including in roles typically held by White employees. He also fights to place a Black woman in the office, facing opposition and racism but ultimately succeeding in integrating the workspace.
