Description
Gothic; The Lubin WindowDelaporte no. 63, Deremble-Manhes no. 45Panel 37: Avit gives keys to Lubin and Panel 17: Wine OfferingPanel 37 (Avit gives keys to Lubin) is at right. This scene takes place in an interior. In the background, there is an arcade whose columns have carved capitals- curtains hang from the arches. Above is a tower. Avit sits at left, (no halo), holding a crosier and extending a set of keys to Lubin (haloed, carrying a book?), who stands at right. He reaches out to take the keys. At the extreme left is a candlestick with a candle in it. Some scholars think the keys are to the cellar at Chartres, thus Avit is conferring the office of cellarer on Lubin. This does not prevent Lubin from being the cellarer in panel 23, as he served as cellarer in several monasteries. In the border at left is a small panel(17) containing a man holding a cup. Williams believes he is part of a wine offering procession.; The St. Lubin Window
