Description
Gothic; The Lubin WindowDelaporte no. 63, Deremble-Manhes no. 45Panel 32: Lubin enters a monastery (right) and Panel 11: Wine Offering (left)At left, in the border, is a small semicircular panel (11) containing a man holding a cup. This is part of the wine-offering procession described by Williams. At right is a panel showing Lubin enters a monastery (Panel 32): To the left stands a group of five or more tonsured monks, looking toward Lubin who stands at right. The rightmost of them may be the abbot- he has a beard and carries a staff with a slight crook at the end. At right Lubin stands, facing them with his head bowed. He is tonsured and wears a habit. Behind him, to the extreme right, is small draped altar with a veiled chalice on it and a curtain hanging above. In the background at left is the roof and columns of a church? monastery? Note the progression in this window from a functional shepherds crook through the abbots staff, to the crosier of a bishop-JV; The St. Lubin Window
