Gothic; The Glorification of the Virgin Window (also known as the Death and Assumption of the Virgin Window)Delaporte no. 7, Deremble-Manhes no. 42Panel 5 The Dormition of the Virgin In the foreground, Mary (haloed) lies on a bed that is parallel to the plane of the panel. Behind her gather twelve haloed men, some of whom wipe their tears with their mantles. Delaporte suggests that Panel 4 the tradition in which St. Thomas appeared too late to see Mary before she died. Since there are twelve figures in this panel, Delaporte says that one of them, who bends toward Mary, is St. Paul. He has the facial features (tall forehead, dark beard) often associated with that saint, who was not one of the original twelve Apostles but is often associated with them. For example, he has a window in the "Chapel of the Apostles" in the choir at Chartres.; The Glorification of the Virgin Window
