Description
Gothic; The St. Germain of Auxerre WindowDelaporte no. 54, Deremble-Manhes no. 29bPanel 11: Germain’s ship encounters a storm Panels 11 and 12 show a miracle in which Germain, on his way to Great Britain to combat heretics, calms a tempest caused by demons. This story is in the Vita of St. Germain. At the bottom of the panel, waves slope steeply toward the right. On them floats a boat with three men in it. To the right is a sailor in a hooded garment, holding an oar into the water. At center is Germain (haloed, mitred, wearing a mantle fastened with a large round brooch) His head is in his hand- according to Delaporte, he is asleep. To the right is another figure with a halo that Delaporte identifies as St. Loup. Above the ship hovers a small devil.; Germain of AuxerreWindow
