Description
Gothic; The Zodiac and Labors of the Months WindowDelaporte no. 17, Deremble-Manhes no. 28a Panel 25 Labor of December – FeastingIn the foreground is a table-on the tablecloth is a jug and several dishes of food. Delaporte suggested that the food might include bread, fish and a piece of pork, (thus reprising all the foods being produced in the other months) Behind the table sits a bearded man with a yellow cap holding a cup. In the rear are a hearth, a door, and what may be a window. There is an inscription DECENBER.Delaporte suggests that this scene was originally meant to represent January, and that panel 23 (killing a pig) was originally meant to personify December.; The Zodiac and Labours of the Months Window
