Description
Gothic; James the Greater WindowDelaporte no. 37, Deremble-Manhes no. 5Panel 4: James preachesJames (halo, barefooted, inscription S. IACOBVS) sits at right on a seat that looks like an altar. He is holding a chalice in one hand while with the other he gestures toward a group of six men seated on the ground at left. Above are abstract clouds. The men look at James and one raises his hands toward the chalice. They are on a much smaller scale than James (see panels 6 and 9). Delaporte says James’ head is an old restoration.Delaporte says the same composition is found at Tours, and that there is a similar one in one of the Moralized Bibles showing Paul preaching.; The James the Greater Window
