Description
Record book documents Isaac Meason, Jr.'s personal expenses from 1818-1819. The left page of each entry lists each person with an account of their debt and the right page lists their credit or what each person gave to Meason in exchange. Most transactions are listed as "merchandise" or "sundries." Some items are listed in full, and they range from objects such as shoes, pen knives, bacon, sugar, and iron on the debit side. Meason exchanged items for things such as salt, reams of paper, cash, and labor. Many of his businesses are mentioned such as the grist mill, saltworks, and iron furnaces. Includes index.
