About the Pitt News

Students at the University of Pittsburgh began to publish their own newspaper, The Pitt Weekly, on September 26, 1910. With the last issue of The Pitt Weekly on October 7, 1932, its successor, Pitt News, continued to report on campus happenings and provide a record of student life on campus. The paper increased production from two to three issues per week starting in 1963 and to five issues per week in 1997. Currently during the Fall and Spring semesters the Pitt News publishes five times per week and during the summer semester publication is limited to weekly issues.
