History

The United Jewish Federation was established in the early 1900s to provide financial resources and central planning to the Jewish community of Pittsburgh. The United Jewish Federation divides its responsibilities into three different areas - developing financial resources, identifying and engaging donors and potential donors, and building the community. Direct fundraising campaigns support agencies both in Pittsburgh and around the world.

Scope and Content Notes

The records of the United Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh consist of annual reports, minutes, board of directors and committee meetings, planning, and budgets. Organizations represented in this collection include the United Jewish Federation, the United Jewish Fund, and the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of Pittsburgh. The records in this collection are dated 1912-1964.

This collection was acquired by the archives in two seperate donations. The collection is split into two series representing these two seperate accessions - Series I. Original Accession, 1912-1959, and Series II. 1998 Addition, 1955-1964.

These records are available both in microfilm and paper formats.
