Abstract
The St. John Mark Evangelical Church, organized in 1981, was the result of a merger between St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, both of Homestead, Pennsylvania. The collection contains separate records of both St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church such as by-laws and pastor, church council, and membership lists; also included are records of baptisms, confirmations, marriages, funerals, burials, communicants, and church histories.

History
The St. John Mark Evangelical Church was organized in 1981. The Lutheran church was the result of a merger between St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, both of Homestead, Pennsylvania. St. John's was founded in 1874 and was the first church established in Homestead. St. Mark's was established in 1890 and was originally known as Unabhandige Deutsche Evangelisch Protestantische Gemeinde. St. Mark's was often referred to as the "rooster church" because of the rooster weathervane that sat atop their steeple.

The collection contains separate records of both St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church such as by-laws and pastor, church council, and membership lists; also included are records of baptisms, confirmations, marriages, funerals, burials, communicants, and church histories.
