These records consist of a pamphlet of the church history, newsclippings, church registers, and general records, 1817-1970 of Smithfield Street Methodist Episcopal Church, Pittsburgh, Pa. The bulk of the records are 1817-1920.

Series I contains pamphlet history and newsclippings. Series II contains church registers including records of marriages, baptisms, membership, attendance, probationers, records for classes, funerals, and pastoral and statistical records. Series III contains general records of minutes, baptisms, marriages, class records, probationers, membership, and church trials.
