The records of Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, Gibsonia (Allegheny Co.), Pa., 1827-1980, is mostly comprised of church registers from 1827-1980, containing lists of pastors, elders, deacons, communicants, baptisms, marriages, and deaths. This collection also consists of minutes of the Sessions, 1827-1980, and minutes of the Women's Home and Foreign Missionary Society, 1904-1946.

Scope and Content Notes

The records of Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, Gibsonia (Allegheny Co.), Pa., 1827-1980, is mostly comprised of church registers from 1827-1980. Series I is comprised of these registers containing lists of pastors, elders, deacons, communicants, baptisms, marriages, and deaths. Series II consists of minutes of the Sessions, 1827-1980. Series III contains minutes of the Women's Home and Foreign Missionary Society, 1904-1946.

Series I includes three volumes. Volumes 1-3 contain a history of the church, 1872; lists of pastors, 1828-1977; lists of elders, 1827-1980; lists of deacons, 1958-1969; lists of communicants, 1872-1919, 1931-1980; alphabetical index to communicants, 1953-1972; dismissions, 1873-1908; deaths, 1873-1912, 1959-1979; baptisms, 1949-1972; marriages, 1953-1971, 1976-1980. Volume three also contains a list of trustees, no date; non-residents church members, no date; suspended members, no date; and children, 1960-1980.

NOTE: "The records of Cross Roads United Presbyterian Church were updated as of January 1, 1973. The rolls of pastors and elders was taken from record books dating back to 1827 and is included complete. The roll of communicant members was arranged in chronological order for the first time. Reference to earlier roll books should be made by alphabetical listing. The roll of baptisms brought forward does not include names of persons born before 1960 who have not become communicant members though their parents are members. For additional names it is necessary to refer to earlier roll books. Persons born before 1960 were deemed to have reached the age of accountability." - John R. Shaw, Clerk of the Session.
