The Javor Singing Society was established on July 11, 1905 in the Croatian Church Hall, Allegheny City (presently known as North Side, Pittsburgh). The Croation Singing Society was made up of Croatian immigrants in the area who were interested in the progress and prosperity of "Javor" - harmony and unity among the Croatians. They held their first concert on January 23, 1906 in the Ceh Hall, Vinial Street, North Side, Pittsburgh and obtained a Charter in June 1909. In 1917 the purchased Cecilia Hall, 822 N. Canal St., Pittsburgh, and christened it the "Croation National Hall - Javor"
The Javor Singing Society, Pittsburgh, Pa. Records, 1905-1941, contain a brief history, 3 volumes of zapisnik (minutes), and two Anniversary Programs. The first two volumes are in Croatian, and the last volume, including a minutebook of the Croatian National Hall, is in English.
