Description
The north portal between the narthex and the nave contains New Testament scenes which occurred after the Resurrection of Christ. The lower register contains the story of Christ appearing to the pilgrims at Emmaus. The leftmost scene shows Christ appearing to the pilgrims on the road to Emmaus (Luke, xxiv, 13-25). To the left is a palm tree (the palm was associated with the medieval pilgrimage to Jerusalem) Next to the palm tree is the figure of Christ, identified by the cross in His halo, He turns slightly to his right, facing two pilgrims who also have halos. All the figures are tall and slender, all their heads are broken off. The pilgrims wear long garments while Christ's is short. One of the pilgims carries an object (a book?); Romanesque; Good
