Description
The capture of the American Frigate, President, by the British, Endymion. On the 14th of January, 1815 the President, Com. Decatur, sailed from New York, and at day light the next morning, he fell in with a British squadron, consisting of the Endymion, Tenedos, Pomone, & Majestic; the formeost, the Endymion, got under his quarter and commenced firing. On the approach of the other frigates, the President surrendered, having 24 men killed and 55 wounded. The Endymion had 11killed and 14 wounded.
