Description
Girls play ring-around-the-rosy outside the Lillian Home in Valencia. The Lillian Taylor Farm Camp was a "Fresh Air Farm" that began in 1902 on 65 acres of land in Valencia, Pennsylvania donated by the Industrialist Charles L. Taylor. The goal of the camp was to provide women and children in urban areas the opportunity to enjoy the country. The Lillian Home was opened on the camp site June 17, 1903. In 1907, Mr. Taylor officially deeded the property to the Kingsley Association. After many land acquisitions, the total camp area rose to 147 acres. The Valencia property was also home to the Lillian Rest convalescent hospital. The property was sold by the Kingsley Association in 2005.
