Description
Matthew J. discusses the farm his family owned in South Carolina and his experience of sharecropper exploitation on other farms. An incident of a racially-motivated fight with another kid. The education he received growing up, and how Jim Crow laws affected that education. More incidents of racial violence while growing up and into adulthood. Making a few stops on his journey to Pittsburgh, but eventually settling in Braddock and getting a job in the mill.
