Description
Chess records his farm work, the tasks of hired workers, his land surveying, the names of people he visits or who visit him, payments he receives or makes, and various goods he buys. He records attending meetings for the Agricultural Society, the Exposition Society, the Property Committee, and the Farm Committee. He visits Maryland in early December, including Salisbury, and notes the various hotels and restaurants where he stopped. The back has a ledger with wages paid to his workers.
