Description
Maria B. discusses her family, growing up in Waynesboro, Virginia, and her father's work in a foundry. She attended school, but began to work washing cars before finishing. She talks about visiting her cousin in Braddock in 1930, but moving to Braddock because she married her husband, who worked at the Weston House. Her impressions of race relations in the South versus the North. Differences between Black communities from the North and different parts of the South. Joining the First Baptist Church. Getting her family through the Great Depression.
