Description
Aerial view of the Westinghouse Research Laboratory, more commonly known as George Westinghouse Research & Technology Park, located in Churchill, Pa. The facility covers around 150 acres. At its peak it employed approximately 1500 scientists, engineers, technicians, and other support personnel. Construction on the Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Voorhees, Walker, Foley & Smith facility began in 1953 and opened in 1956. Several additions were made throughout the 1960s and 1970s. By 1996 the research park was only partially occupied.
