Description
S. S. Grand View Hotel in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. The hotel, often referred to as The Ship Hotel, was located along the historic Lincoln Highway/Route 30. It opened in 1932 and was owned by Herbert Paulsen who previously operated a hot dog cart on the same spot. The hotel boasted sweeping views of the Allegheny Mountains, views of seven counties (Bedford, Blair, Fulton, Frankline, and Sommerset) and views of three states (Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland). In 2001 the hotel was destroyed by fire.
