Description
Soga Gorō is sharpening a gigantic arrow on a grindstone for preparing avenge his father's death. Yanone 矢の根 is one of the Kabuki plays based on the tale of Soga Brothers. It is also one of the Eighteen Best Plays of Kabuki, Kabuki jūhachiban 歌舞伎十八番 selected by Ichikawa Danjūō VII in 1832. Inscriptions: Comic tanka poems by Bunsōsha Matsutoshi 文操舎松年, Bunsō Takemasa 文窓竹雅 and Bunbunsha (1780-1837) 文々舎. Signature: しんば 本松写 [Shinba Motomatsu sha] Privately Printed (surimono)
