Description
Chas E. King's business offered quite a few services to the citizens of Oakmont and neighboring areas. The signs mention roofing, spouting and repairing. Apparently, he was also an agent for 20th Century Furnace and worked with Valley Realty Co. The two men in this photo are Mr. King, right, and Charles Baxter, King's brother-in-law. King has one hand upon a Model T Ford, which he made into a service truck. One obvious modification is the ladder hanging along the side, behind which a woman is visible on the right. The business, located at 761 Allegheny Avenue, operated from 1918 until 1991, run by three generations of King's family. Originally from the collection of Charlie King.
