This picture shows the U.S. 15th Engineers waiting on West Railroad Avenue for the train that would take them from their homes and families in Oakmont to the overseas battlegrounds of WWI. One wonders how many of these men made it home safely. On a hot day in July, it must have been a long wait for the train - local residents came down and chatted with the soldiers, bringing them cold drinks and snacks.
