Abstract
Alliance College was founded as a school for Polish speaking Americans, and was mainly comprised of Polish immigrants. The collection consists of the records of Alliance College for the years 1929-1976, most of the records fall into the years 1966-1971. The records consist of subject files, construction records, and various administrative records. Most of the records are in the Polish language but are organized alphabetically in English.

History

Alliance College was founded by the Polish National Alliance of the United States, a fraternal beneficial society, in 1903 with the first students enrolling in 1912. Alliance College was located in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania. The college was founded as a school for Polish speaking Americans, mainly immigrants. The school offered traditional coursework with an emphasis on the study of the Polish language and Polish culture in America. The college functioned for seventy-five years until it was closed and sold to the state of Pennsylvania in 1988.

Scope and Content Notes

This collection contains the records of Alliance College for the years 1929-1976. The collection consist of 3 series. Series I is made up of general records of the college that have administrative value. Series II contains records on the school construction, which contains correspondence and blueprints. Series III consists of subject files relevant to the various activities at Alliance College. Most of the records are in the Polish language, however, the records are organized alphabetically according to their English translation.
