end of the first phase of our fundraising campaign. Nearly 70% of UPG full-time faculty,
26% of the part-time faculty, and 45% of the retired faculty made pledges. About 40% of
full-time staff and 50% of the retired staff contributed. Altogether $26,120 was donated
including pledges from faculty and staff made through United Way.]

financial aid together with a redesigned form have drastically reduced the number of
"options" students who usually make up nearly half of an entering UPG freshman class.

In addition there are 12 more transfer students to UPG than this time last year. These
can be counted towards our goal. In terms of returning students, 1,107 have enrolled for
the fall compared to 1, 104 at this time last year. The budgetary impact will not be

Jamison will assume the post of Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs on July 1,

responsibilities of Chair of the Div. of the Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Mary Beth Spore,
Assistant to the President for University Relations and Institutional Advancement, has
announced her resignation as of June 30, 2006 to take up the position of Dean of the
Social Sciences, Communication, and Education at St. Vincent College. UPG has received
one of the largest grants in its history. The Richard King Mellon Foundation awarded UPG
a $500,000 grant for the second time. This grant is directed towards the building of a
second floor on McKenna Hall, the campus computer center.]

for La Cultura is "Welcome to China". There will be a series of lectures illuminating

Rossetti Fund to support students wishing to travel and study abroad. This is the sixth
