Description
In 1932 the international photographer James E. Abbe (1883-1973) was granted rare permission to photograph Stalin in the Kremlin. The photograph was used to dispel rumors of Stalin's demise. This image coupled with Stalin's signature was reproduced in the book I Photograph Russia published in 1934. The original photograph "Joseph Stalin in the Kremlin, Moscow, 1932" remains in the private collection of Tilly Abbe, the photographer's daughter.
