Description
Central vessel of nave looking west. The nave is 62 meters long, 14 meters wide and 18 meters high. It has a central vessel with a single aisle on each side. The nave has 10 square bays separated by cruciform compound piers with engaged half-columns. In the central vessel, the engaged columns extend upward to the springing point of the vault. The vault is not continuous, but is a series of groin vaults, one for each bay, separated by transverse round arches with voussoirs of alternating grey and brown stone. The nave elevation has two levels, separated with a stringcourse. The arcade level consists of a single round arch in each bay. The clerestory has a relatively small, unornamented, arched window near the top. -JV; Romanesque; Somewhat restored
