Description
Gothic; Apollinare and Choirs of Angels Window Delaporte no. 10, Deremble-Manhes no. 36Panel 15: Life of St. Apollinare: Apollinare goes into exileDelaporte says that the placement of this panel is a puzzle. Apollinare did go into exile to Italy, but this did not happen until much later in his life. On the other hand, it is difficult to see how this could be a transposition, since the only other panel , panel 24 (the funeral of Apollinare) is in its correct place. In the center is a ship with a curved prow and stern, a full sail on its single mast, containing three people. At left, a hooded man pulls on an oar. Apollinare (haloed, wearing a mitre) sits at center, gesturing toward a man sitting in the prow of the ship (a cleric?).; The St. Apollinare and Choirs of Angels Window
