Archivolts; Gothic; West Façade, Central Portal, Archivolts - RightThe inner archivolt (at left) contains angels standing on clouds. They hold round objects. (Perhaps these are wheels- the symbol for the Thrones, one of the choirs of angels described in Old Testament Book of Ezekiel 1:13-19. - JV) The outer archivolts (at right) contain figures of the Elders of the Apocalypse (Apocalypse, Chapter 4). They are depicted as bearded, haloed men wearing crowns. They are sitting on or standing in front of thrones. Each holds a musical instrument; some hold vials of perfume (Apocalypse, 5:8); West Facade, Central Portal
