Description
Group portrait of the University of Pittsburgh Marching Band circa 1912-1913 at Forbes Field. University of Pittsburgh Marching Band, which made its first appearance at Forbes Field on October 14, 1911 at a game being played between Pitt and Ohio Northern. The band was organized by Dr. Earl Miller and James G. Oliver. Carl Sabad became the Student Leader and Don Kirk played the role of manager for the original band. Industrialist and former Pittsburgh Mayor, E. V. Babcock, donated the first uniforms in 1912.
