Picture of the General Office's new IBM 7070 computer with a RAMAC disk drive. The IBM 7070 was one of the first computers to utilize solid state transistors as opposed to vacuum tubes, a significant development in computer processing. RAMAC stands for "random access method of accounting and control. During the 1960s, the united states steel corporation utilized many new technologies to help increase their competitiveness.
