View looking west from the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad Terminal yards toward the Wabash and both Point Bridges, showing snow-covered submerged railroad passenger cars after the 1936 St. Patrick's Day flood. The flood occurred over a period of four days after heavy rains, culminating with the crest of the Ohio River at 46 feet. The 1936 flood had far reaching effects, causing some $250 million in damages and an estimated 108 fatalities.
