Description
Streetcar 1747 from Route 64 East Pittsburgh/Wilkinsburg. This route was established in 1937 and discontinued in 1967 as a result of Port Authority Transit (PAT) modernization. Route 64 East Pittsburgh - Wilkinsburg came into PAT's route structure from the former streetcar route 64 East Pittsburgh. While the route was undergoing the conversion from rail to bus, weekend bus substitution was done and the buses kept the same route number as the streetcars to avoid confusiom. Once the conversion was completed, the 64 designation was retired and the route was placed into the PAT Corridor Numbering System.
