Odessa Murdock Diggs: What did you hear your--the friends. Your relatives are the ones you heard talk about.

Frazier Lee Parrish: Well, they're talking about running an Underground Railroad, but they would sneak these people out at night, you know, carry them so far and they call that Underground Railroad. And they know the thing is, in some other state or something like that or some other county overnight. They call it the Underground Railroad. That's all I--that's the only thing I knew about it.

Diggs: Yeah, I heard him. They smuggled him out? Parrish: No. Diggs: Did you ever hear how they did it?

Parrish: No, I never. No, I never know how they did it.

Diggs: Did you ever know any of the places where they took them?

Parrish: No, I don't. Diggs: Where they stopped?

Diggs: Have you ever heard of--they called her Moses, Harriet Tubman.

Parrish: Yes, I've heard of her.

Diggs: Did you know she was around in Newcastle? [????] freedom. When they were running underground.

Parrish: Was she in Newcastle?

Diggs: Did you ever hear anything about her? Parrish: Never heard anything about her. Diggs: All right. Now, you did already tell me about the Oddfellows and the Daughters of Tabor they had.

Diggs: Which are the families around here that lived here the longest? That the Colored families have lived around here the longest, Mr. Parrish?

Parrish: Well, there's a-- [sound of shuffling papers] there's a Law. There's a Board family. There's an Allen family.

Parrish: No, too fast?

Diggs: No, No.

Parrish: Let me see. And there was a Burwell family.

Diggs: Were Burwells in New Brighton or Rochester?

Parrish: No, they was in Beaver Falls.

Diggs: Beaver Falls. Are any of them still here now?

Parrish: Well, they have a great-great niece here yet.

Parrish: The Burwell family. Evelyn--Evelyn Crawford. That's all I knew of the Burwell family.

Diggs: Which is the oldest Colored church around in this area?

Parrish: Well, I must say, I think I would say the Second Baptist Church in Beaver Falls and Rochester Church. Those are the two oldest Colored churches.

Diggs: Okay. What about Bridgewater?

Parrish: Well. It's quite--quite aged, too.

Diggs: Okay. What Colored businesses were here, you know, when you came? Where can you.

Parrish: Well the only things in business when I came was barbershops. That's all I remember.

Diggs: Did you ever know any Colored people who worked on the river boats or steamers? Parrish: No. No, I didn't know. Diggs: No. Okay, well, then that is just about all the questions that I had.
